Kampot town is now Kampot City. Prices have risen in the last few years as the Bokor Mountain Resort nears completion. Downtown, vast improvements to the riverside and streets, along with several 3 and 4 star hotels and resort have sharpened up the city considerably.
On the riverside, several new resorts have opened. Some world class.
You can find a few real estate agents in downtown Kampot if you look around. And several thousands of people will willingly help you find the perfect location for you, whether land owner, or just someone who knows of some property for sale and will get a commission from the sale.
The signs all say, "Foreigner - can buy land and houses legally" (but you still might want to consult with a local lawyer, which is much harder to find).
Several foreigners own and operate businesses in and around Kampot. Most are very successful. Which is helping to boost the popularity of Kampot as well.
